Oceana Gold Frasers Underground Mine

LOADRITE New Zealand have been working at the Oceana Gold underground mine operation for several years now, initially a 50 tonne Sandvik underground ADT was installed to be loaded with material from the LHD loaders.

The ROM material changes in density as excavation progresses, the geologists track the density against cubic volume to determining the changes and add this data into their process calculations.

We installed a LOADRITE L2180 scale system with ground slope compensation and connected to the site wireless network via a wifi modem which relayed back to the  above ground office where the geologists used Loadrite Material Management System software to generate mine reports.

We were down this month calibrating the Sandvik ADT, they dont take long to look extremely second hand!

Calibration is not an easy process as the machines are operating 24/7 365 days a year. Scheduling in the time is critical and the allotted time window is fixed. There is an on site mining weighbridge were the weight calibration process is performed. Here we are loading ROM material into the ADT with a massive CAT992K loader with capacity of 25 tonnes per bucket load!
